Diagnostic Review

What is Diagnostic Review?

Diagnostic review is like bringing your car to your auto shop for a mechanic to look at what's going on in your car. With this idea, we pull up the "hood" of your business's books and look at what's going on inside.

You know that scanner the auto technician hook your car up to at the mechanic’s shop to read the code to tell you what’s wrong with your vehicle? That’s what we do – for your financials!

We regularly find thousands of missing dollars, incorrect categorizations, and improper accounting setup or procedure that cause inconsistency in financial reports for our clients during this review.

This is a diagnostic – we’ll show you a high-level overview of what’s wrong and where you need to make changes.

Whether you need a one-time review or ongoing support, we are here to help to keep your business's books in top shape.

When do you need review?

  • When you need your financials to be clean and ready for your tax return

  • When you need your financials to be accurate for lenders or investors when they ask you for your business's financials

  • When you don't have reliable financial data

  • When you need a new perspective of bookkeeping professional for your books

How we do diagnostic review?

When we review your books, we do a comprehensive analysis of your financial records to identify inconsistencies, errors and areas for improvement. We carefully assess your bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial reports to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

Our review process helps uncover potential issues and inefficiencies that could impact your business. After our review, we provide clear insights and actionable recommendations to help you improve your financial processes, reduce risks and make more informed decisions.

What is needed for review?

You do need to have a few things in place in order for this review to be successful:

  • Must have an existing bookkeeping system (it doesn’t matter what software you use (or spreadsheet), we’ll just need access to it)

  • Must be willing to accept suggestions, acknowledge gaps, and make the changes you need to be compliant and set your business up for maximum success

If you don’t have bookkeeping records, there is nothing for us to review and we recommend booking a consultation with us to talk about setting up your bookkeeping system.

How does this work?

This is how the diagnostic review goes:

You click the below button to get your review setup with us – it’s a chance for us to understand your business and gather important details that help us understand and review your books.

We complete the Diagnostic Review (aka we review your current bookkeeping) so we can clearly see what’s going on and where the issues are.

Once the review is complete, we create an overview report of your current bookkeeping, highlighting things that could cause issues or be a red flag. We create and share a custom proposal for what it would look like for us to correct what we find. There is no obligation to move forward with us– but we’re here to solve your bookkeeping problems if you want us to!

We typically like to discuss the results of your diagnostic review, answer all of your questions, and go over your custom proposal over a video call. We can do in-person meeting if you prefer the in-person meeting option.

Our Diagnostic Review is a wonderful way to give you a preview of the work we do here at Kellcat Bookkeeping.
